Professor and Chair, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation


Paul Dougherty, M.D., is a professor and chair of orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. He is also chair of the department’s orthopaedic surgery residency program.

Dougherty’s clinical and research interests include surgical education, long-term follow-up of military amputees, wound ballistics of combat casualties, and external fixator biomechanics. He has published more than 50 papers and book chapters and has given more than 80 regional and national presentations.

He received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and completed his residency at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, California, and a fellowship in orthopaedic trauma at the University of Louisville in Kentucky.
