Leigh Neumayer, M.D.

Leigh Neumayer, MD, MS, MBA, is a professor and chair of surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. Dr. Neumayer is board-certified in surgery and surgical critical care. Her clinical and research interests include breast surgery, quality and surgical education. She has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and has designed, conducted and published several clinical trials for the treatment of breast cancer.
She is the author of a book, Meet Virginia: Biography of a Breast, which showcases a patient’s breast cancer journey and serves as an educational tool for patients. She has served on numerous medical journal editorial boards and is an active member of national and international medical associations focused on advancing surgical practice and women in medicine.
Dr. Neumayer earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and her Master of Science degree in clinical research design and statistical analysis from the University of Michigan School of Public Health in Ann Arbor. She completed a fellowship in executive leadership in academic medicine at the Drexel College of Medicine in Philadelphia.
