Practice Plan Operations
Investments over the past six years speak profoundly of our commitment to sustained growth.
As we look to identify more opportunities for growth, it is beneficial to take a moment to reflect on the key advancements our practice plan, University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians Inc., has experienced over the past several years. We have been quite busy, with major strategic investments that have expanded our footprint and further enhanced our top-notch patient care.
In 2015, we opened the UF Health North medical office building on Jacksonville’s Northside, where we provide primary and specialty care and enjoy an excellent payor mix. A few years later, in 2019, we began providing care at UF Health Wildlight in neighboring Nassau County. That location features our practice plan’s first freestanding full-service radiology and urgent care facilities. Other services include primary care, behavioral health, women’s services, pediatrics, laboratory services and dentistry.
We also opened multiple primary and specialty care practices elsewhere across the region. Practices include UF Health Psychiatry – San Jose and UF Health Imaging Center – Baymeadows, which both opened in 2020.
This year in February, we broke ground on a state-of-the-art multispecialty surgery center and medical office building off J. Turner Butler and Kernan boulevards on Jacksonville’s Southside. The facility, in partnership with the Jax Spine & Pain Centers, will be the largest freestanding multispecialty surgery center in the region.
Services at the surgery center will include neurosurgery, interventional pain management, orthopaedic surgery, gastroenterology, surgical specialties, oral and maxillofacial surgery and gynecology. The medical office building will house all the specialists operating at the surgery center, as well as neurology and select medical specialties. We are targeting a spring 2022 opening.
BY THE NUMBERS
University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians Inc. features more than 30 practices across five counties. Personnel includes more than 450 physicians, 250 advanced practice providers and 1,200 supporting staff members. Our people are our greatest asset, and we have reflected that through an array of equity adjustments, annual raises and bonuses over the past several years.
In all, since 2015, the practice plan has invested more than $170 million in personnel, infrastructure, equipment, programming and construction. Looking ahead, future expenditures will go toward an all-new digital health division, a primary care hub at UF Health North and a new spa-like location specializing in aesthetics and cosmetology.
We are excited about what lies ahead for the practice plan and believe these strategic investments will help propel our mission to heal, to comfort, to educate and to discover while achieving our vision to be the region’s most valued health care asset.
