Administrative Affairs
Superior Accomplishment Awards reflect the valuable hard work of our faculty and staff.
In February, the University of Florida announced the division-level recipients of its 2019-2020 Superior Accomplishment Awards. The accolades recognize faculty and staff who have shown efficiency or economy in their work, have contributed outstanding and meritorious service, or who have improved the quality of life provided to students and employees.
All academic personnel, TEAMS employees and USPS staff members — except those at the department chair or director level and above — are eligible to participate. TEAMS is short for Technical, Executive, Administrative and Managerial Support and USPS stands for University Support Personnel System.
Two faculty and two staff members at the UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville are among those who won in Division 5, which includes all colleges, departments and units in Jacksonville and Gainesville under the senior vice president for health affairs. Following are the winners from the College of Medicine – Jacksonville, with the award category in parentheses:
- Jessica Lori Armstrong, assistant director, health care administration, department of pediatrics (Administrative/Professional)
- Phyllis Hendry, M.D., professor, department of emergency medicine (Academic Personnel)
- Ross Jones, M.D., assistant professor, department of community health and family medicine (Community Service)
- April McLaughlin, clinical programs coordinator III, department of pediatrics (Administrative/Supervisory)
Each winner was nominated by supervisors, peers or customers who wrote glowing letters of recommendation on their behalf. The awards reflect work and contributions during the past academic year, Aug. 1, 2018 – July 31, 2019.
The winners received cash awards of $200 each, a framed certificate and a commemorative coffee mug and were considered for university-level awards, which offer $1,000 and $2,000 cash prizes.
