Congratulations to the four University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville faculty members who received UF Term Professorship Awards from the UF Provost’s Office. Awardees have built distinguished careers that place them among the leaders in their respective disciplines.
Each of the UF Term Professorship Awards lasts three years. Recipients receive an annual salary supplement of $5,000 during the course of the award. The College of Medicine – Jacksonville was allocated four awards for 2016-17 to eligible tenure-track assistant, associate and full professors in their fifth year (or more) of service.
UF President Kent Fuchs announced the new awards last year to further recognize and reward faculty achievements. The dean makes the final determination of award of term professorships, with input from chairs and the Faculty Council Executive Committee. The awards are based on assessment of academic accomplishment.

Research professorship
Dominick Angiolillo, M.D., Ph.D., was named a University of Florida Research Foundation Professor. Professorships are awarded to tenured faculty members with a distinguished active record of research. The goal is to recognize recent contributions and provide incentives for continued research excellence. Angiolillo, medical director of cardiovascular research at UF COMJ, was recognized largely for his extensive research on coronary artery disease and antiplatelet medications.
